Trondheim, Norway

Description

The system comprises an electro-hydraulic unit that connects to a receiver (e.g. an

underwater hammer, vibrator or other hydraulic driven equipment) via hoses for inshore or offshore underwater operations. The system was developed through a research program for generating seismic shear waves in combination with a vibrator. Has only approx. 200 hours run time and has been stored since the program ended. Recently opened and inspected and found in good condition.

Electric Motor:

  • Model/type: From BEVI Norge AS, SKG 315M-44
  • Motor effect: 160 kW @ S6-30% operation i.e. continuous operation with full load 30% of a 10 minute period, 132 kW @ normal load.
  • Operational voltage: 3 x 400 V Y, 3 x 690 V Δ, frequency 50 Hz.
  • Revolutions: 1485 RPM (4-poles)
  • Max power consumption: @ 400 V: 272 A, @ 690 V: 158 A
  • Start power consumption: approx. 8 x max power consumption.

Hydraulic Pump

  • Model/type: Kawasaki K3VG280-1ANR-4000: Pressure compensated variable displacement swash plate type piston pump.
  • Maximum oil feed volume at 1485 rpm: 410 l/min without back pressure. The pump is pressure compensated i.e. it reduces its displacement when the pressure oil increases up to the pressure regulator’s setting.
  • Hydraulic gauge output: Max operational pressure: 220 bar (pump compensator’s pressure setting)
  • Design pressure: 250 bar
  • Test pressure: 270 bar
  • Max oil delivery volume: 400 l/min @ 220 bar.

Submersible Tank with Volume & Pressure Compensator

Submersible tank: Steel tank with total volume approx. 800 liters.

Compensator: The tank is fully filled with hydraulic oil and the compensator with a spring loaded piston ensures that there is always a positive differential pressure inside the tank. With variations in oil volume, which is determined by filling of accumulators any attached equipment, hydrostatic pressure from the surrounding water and hydraulic oil temperature, the compensator will be pushed outward with increasing oil volume and inward with decreasing oil volume.

The compensator’s piston is open to surrounding sea water so that the hydrostatic pressure is transferred to the oil inside the tank. The positive differential pressure inside the tank prevents any sea water from entering the tank. Total oil volume for the compensator is 30 liters.

Oil Cooling System

During operation heated needs to be removed from the oil. The cooling loop comprises a hydraulic driven water pump that circulates sea water through the cooler. The cooler’s oil side is connected to the return line from the vibrator. A separate hydraulic pump for this purpose is mounted directly onto the main hydraulic pump.

Additional equipment:

150 meters rubber coated electrical cable with subsea (water tight) connector, two 2 ton trolley jacks, lifting chain sling and 150 m communication cable for control of vibrator. A 21 foot container and frequency convertor may also be included at additional cost.
