Description

INTRODUCTION TUG Boat

This Aluminum TUG is specially designed for towing oil spill recovery booms.

The strength of the hull and superstructure is sufficient to withstand all normal forces encountered

under normal use offshore, intended for its purpose. The hull is built of marine aluminum and is

heavily reinforced. It has a deep V hull with optimum suitability for towing. The superstructure is

made of sea water resistant aluminum construction and has several strong points for lifting or

attachments of equipment like a winch , gantry or survey equipment and has an internally reinforced

(rolling Cage) wheelhouse. Special attention has been given to fendering and air-intake for the

engine.

GENERAL

The Tug has been designed by van Vossen for Palfinger Marine under model FRSQ 1000 A-Tug and

modified by the present owner to increase robustness and internal space. Boat can be moved by

Low-loader seated on deep keel.

HULL CONSTRUCTION

The hull of the TUG is fully welded and made out of profiles and plates in marine aluminum. The

hull is stiffened by longitudinal bulkheads and transversal stiffeners. The hull has a deep V

shape, also to achieve and allow for the engine (thus center of gravity) to be as low as possible

to give higher stability characteristics. Plate below Bulwark 16 mm and keel 20 mm.

WORKING DECK

The working deck is self-bailing through draining holes in the transom.

The deck has reinforcements to attach specialized equipment as a tow-hook/winch/ Boom-

reel. The deck has several low profile watertight hatches made by Baier. The navigational

mast has been equipped with standard led lights suitable for towing operations, alarm lights

and anchor light. The mast is light and can be tilted in a simple way for low navigational

passage.

The Exhaust system has a central exit for fume free working on deck

The cooling system has a double intake

Hull has been stabilized with 1000 kg fixed ballast in the keel

Specially designed hydraulic operated 60/40 fishtail rudder

SUPERSTRUCTURE

The superstructure of this craft is a sea water resistant aluminum construction. All windows

have sufficient strength and the two front windows are equipped with wipers. The entrance

door (Houdini) is of a watertight construction. The dashboard, where all engine instruments

have been logically placed, is located in front of the helmsman’s position where also all

maneuvering controls can be easily reached. There is a small forward pantry like space. A toilet

is included and a kitchen/storage area. The superstructure has been finished with a practical

interior in wood and includes a removable table and bunk to sit/work. There are two escape

hatches in the roof of the superstructure to enhance safety and comply with the regulations.

CONSERVATION
